Links with the strategic framework
The conservation of fish stocks is a trans-national risk management problem generated by current maritime economic activity. The aim therefore is to preserve the resource base of coastal zones in the Channel region.
The actions under this theme will also help to prepare the future work of the Regional Advisory Council responsible for the Channel area within the new Common Fisheries Policy.
- The Fishing Economy: Mapping exercise. The economics of fishing in the Channel region will be mapped to compare professional structures and their involvement in the resource management.
- Constitution of a Regional Consultative Committee for the Transmanche area and establishment of specific working groups relating to different species which will define co-operative initiatives aimed at improving joint management of fishing resources in this area.
